PALAWAN TRIP: Bragging Rights!!!

This will be either longer than the Boracay post or maybe shorter depends on my mood.

day 0 - SuperFerry trip.

Not much happened, aside from my eyes. It got so irritated with the contact lens. And we stayed in the promenade deck of Super Ferry that night.

June 10, 2006 - day 1 - Arrived at Coron, Palawan.
(Siete Pecados, Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake and Makinit Hot Spring)

This was taken from the ship.

We arrived at Coron at around 7am. From the Coron Pier we went to Saint Augustine Academy in Coron, Palawan. Our host here is Rev. Fr. Roderick Y. Caabay (the current SAA Director).

upon arrival in SAA, group pic before settling down.

We were given a room where we could place our things. We changed into our swimming attires. And while waiting for our lunch, we played the games (the "Do you love me?" and the all-time favorite "7-up") facilitated by Marge. We left the school at 10:15am.

Arrived at Siete Pecados at 10:30am.

Medyo duwag pa ako nito, unang lusong e.

Next stop, Kayangan Lake, we arrived there at around lunch time, hence the group had lunch first in the boat.

Sila habang nagkakagulo nung lunch.

this was our lunch!
Lobster!!!

To go to the Kayangan Lake, we need to trek. 10-15 mins trek depends on the phase of the group. Here we paid 200pesos for the entrance fee.

We rode the balsa and row til we got to the middle of the lake. It was a fantastic view. Ate Sheng, Ava, Me and Dorie even challenged the boys for a race. Syempre we girls won!

Trek to Kayangan Lake.
Si Kuya King ang kumuha.

Ayun ako o, sa dulo!

From Kayangan Lake, we moved on to Barracuda Lake. We swam to the entrance, it was low tide and the boat cannot dock nearer. We also climbed the mini-wall that separates it from the sea. I didn't bring my camera.

group pic at Barracuda Lake using my water-proof camera.

Group pic ulit.
Thanks to Kuya King for taking the pics.

According to Kuya King, it was called Barracuda Lake because there are a lot of Barracudas here. Well, honestly, I am too scared to look. hehehe. I didn't see one, altho some of us did. Just played with the hipon na nakakakiliti.

We were supposed to go to the Twin Lagoon unfortunately, because of the low tide we didn't.

There are some of us got injured when we were going back to the boat. Some were stung by the jelly fish and by the sea urchins. Good thing, I am not one of them. Kuya King helped me!!! Thank God I don't need another injury!

pic muna bago umuwi.

We then, returned to the school. From there, we left our snorkelling gears and life vests. We then proceeded to Makinit Hot Springs. We soaked in the 38 degrees pool of volcanic waters.

After an hour, we returned back to the school. Wash up, another delicious dinner, and made plans for the next day.

June 11, 2006 - day 2 - Coron, Palawan

(Calunboyan Island, Lusong Dive Site and Travel to Agutaya)

Some of us was able to wake up early and trek Mt. Tapyas.

Mt. Tapyas
Kinuhanan ko nung nasa barko pa kami.

Unfortunately, I was not one of them. Too sick to do it.

After two hours of boat ride, we arrived at Calunboyan Island at 1:00pm from Coron Port. Upon arriving we ate lunch. As our expedition leader would often remind us "pede ding magsnorkel maliban sa picture taking".

After lunch,
some drank fresh buko
some had photo sessions.

Palawan Babes

Captain Joyce Sparrow

The Pork-Stars (girls) had their sexy photo-shoot here. We are planning to release a calendar mala-FHM. bwahahaha. After an hour we have decided that we had enough of the corals and enough pics so we went to another snorkelling site. This time there is a ship wrecked. The place is called Lusong Dive Site. This is the first time I've seen a ship wrecked.

Our first progress ni Anjo!
Nakalayo na kami sa bangka.

coral sa ship wreck.
tanga kumuha. bwahahaha.

And medyo nakakapag-adjust na ako at medyo matapang tapang na ako. kahit malayo sya sa pinagstay-an nung bangka, nagawa namin na ni Anjo to swim and explore the wreck.

Alis na kami to go to Agutaya that night. Pero pagdating sa port of Coron, the MEN needed to push the boat. hindi na kasi talaga kaya. so tinulak nila ung boat hanggang sa pede na kaming bumaba.

Pagbalik sa school, prepare na kami for an overnight sea travel to Agutaya. We left for Agutaya at around 9pm. We said our goodbyes and thank yous to the Coron People who made our stay memorable.

The First part of the travel was cold. as in COLD. It rained. I was soaking wet. It was really cold. Everybody was praying that it will not be maalon. I even bargained with God that I will come to the office early just for Him to stop the rains and the waves.

June 12, 2006 - day 3 - Agutaya, Palawan
(Sir Thornz Bday Celebration, Agutaya, Manamoc Island and Manamoc Sand Bar)

Here the people of Agutaya headed by Mrs. Rebecca Arquero (beloved Mama of Sir Thornz) welcomed us at the port of Agutaya. The group had a little parade on the streets of Agutaya, stopping on the "exact" birthplace of Sir Thornz, and greeting people on the streets.

The group stayed in Gaudencio Abordo Memorial National High School.

Mama was once a principal here.

This is where all the action happened.

and since, Independence Day there was a parade

Those bells was dated 1959.

From here, we went to Brgy. Manamoc, Cuyo to have lunch. And while Mama was negotiating for a backdoor pass to Amanpulo, we roamed around the area.

And after a while, at around 3:30pm we left supposedly for Concepcion. But instead we ended up staying at Manamoc Island Sand Bar. This is where we had picture taking, we even stayed for the sunset.

bagong amot na solo pic.
Thanks Again Ate Sheng.

After a while, bumalik na ulit kami sa bangka.

Look at my eyes!!! hindi pantay!

Then start na kami byahe back to Agutaya. When we got back to the school, we were surprised to find out that supposedly there was a mass and the people of Agutaya has prepared a mini-presentation for the homecoming of Mama, a welcome for our group and a birthday celebration for Sir John-John (a.k.a. SIr Thornz).

The current principal of the school even gave a speech. Then Mama also gave a speech. Kuya Louie being the incumbent president of OCMI.

mga more than five times nyang sinabing
"ang ganda ng palawan".

although tired,
sobrang tuwa at touched for the efforts
that the Agutayans had done for us.

Despite the raging rains that night. The show went on. Kahit na the programme started at already 11pm and the supply of electricity in their area is only until 12mn, that didn't stop them. After the speeches we went to the canteen where some students and teachers have showcased a number of dance presentation. Eventually, when the electricity was off at 12 mn, they started the generator and proceeded with the program. After the program, we danced with the Agutayans, they were so good to us, that the only way we can repay them is to put aside our "hiya" and go dance with them. We had so much fun. Divine was the dancing diva. And Abet even gamely danced with the "girls".

June 13 - day 3 - Agutaya-Pamalican Island-Cuyo
(Amanpulo)

Next destination, Amanpulo. But there was just a slight problem, only 5 lucky (or unlucky) people will only be allowed to join the guided tour. So, when we were on our way, we had draw lots. Mama picked up 2 from each group. In group 2, it was Kuya Louie (the very first one picked!), and Anjo. In group 1, Sir Thornz should be one of the picked but he gave up his slot so the chosen ones are Dorie and Winnie. The fifth one was picked after the 2 sets of names were combined. It was Vidal who got picked... and she gave up her slot to me!!! I don't know what to feel. I was kind of surprised and touched. She told me that noone from the picked was good enough to take good pics and noone can really document (bwahaha, as if naman ang galing ko).

When we were already near the vicinity of the island, a motorboat approached us, since they were already notified that we were coming, they just gave us an instruction to proceed to the docking area. We all got off the boat (contrary to what was announced that the rest will stay on the boat). We were all wishing that somehow all of us will be permitted to go. Mababait ung mga security dun... and yeah, all of us were able to get in... 3 batches. Kami ung una.

hahaha. nagpi-feeling!

Ang subject ni Anjo is yung lizard.
This was after our tour.
Second batch na, sina Abet.

While the last batch was having their tour. Abet and I decided to take more pics where we came in. So we walked and end up passing by their grotto.

Abet and I then decided to sit and chat by the seawall. Took more pics.

Thanks Bro!!!

Senti!!?!?!

After the last batch, we proceeded and climbed the Gary's Nest. From this place you can see the island. Once again, we had our endless pictorials. Finally, the OCMI group picture with the banner before loading.

hindi ko na matandaan sinong kumuha nito.

AMANPULO

Finally, it was decided that we need to pass by Cuyo. Supposedly we would be taking the shorter route if we will go straight to El Nido from Pamalican Island, but since people of Cuyo have already prepared food for us, as a courtesy, we passed by Cuyo.

June 14, 2006 - day 4 - Cuyo and El Nido
(Cuyo and Javlon Staff house El Nido)

We arrived at Cuyo (from Pamalican) at 12mn. Although everybody is tired. Everybody still managed a smile when our picture is taken in the Welcome Arc at the Cuyo Port.

Talagang basta picture ngiti pa rin!

We had dinner, the food was very good, especially the sweet and sour fish and the leche flan. Unfortunately, I just threw up after. :( I was really sick. When the group decided to have a night tour around area, I declined, and so are Kuya Louie and Ava. We went back to the boat, and slept.

Too weak to socialize when they got back, I just gave my contribution for the krudo, and went back to sleep.

I woke up at 8am and found out that instead of the 4am departure, we left Cuyo at 6am. We were then on our way to El Nido. I slept again at around 10am and woke up at 1pm only to find out that we are still in the middle of the sea. I was bored. I was trying to mingle with the others who are playing "in-between" but everytime I attempt to move, I get dizzy. So, just had a chat with Anjo.

Sunset in the boat.

Well, after 13 hours, finally we docked at El Nido at around 7:30pm. We were welcomed by Dads at the Port, she arrived that evening from Puerto Princesa. Since, I haven't eaten much while in transit, I am so hungry. I asked Abet to accompany me and buy some softdrinks, when we just decided to look around the area and have cheap dinner. We ate in a Carenderia. I ordered for a chicken adobo. When we went back to the Javlon Staff House, most of the ladies have already taken their baths. So, solo ko na ang CR. I never felt so clean for days. hehehe. Then, sleep na...

June 15, 2006 - day 5 - El Nido
(Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Matinloc Island, Lagen, and Kodugnon Cave)

Today, Divine is bound to leave for Puerto Princesa. She didn't able to join us for the island hopping. We were sched to leave the staffhouse at around 9:30am, so we still have time for picture taking. We didn't need to go far for a good spot.

Our First stop was at the Big Lagoon.

Sir John-John...
Uy kunyari pa ayaw tumingin.

kami

After namin sa Big Lagoon, we went to Small Lagoon. Here we needed to swim through a small gap on the walls to get into the Small Lagoon. I don't have the pics yet, I will ask Anjo for a copy. What's different with this lagoon is, at some part there is an edge. It was a cliff under water. Description nga ni Kuya Louie, parang baso. As in, kita mo ung edge ng bato, then drop na sya. It was creepy, but amazing... pano kaya nangyari un no?

Not sure whether papasok to ng Small Lagoon o
Pa-uwi na kami nung kinunan.
Talikogenic.

Next stop, Matinloc Island. This is where we had our lunch. Before getting off the boat, we were asked by Mama to wear our tshirts and shorts over our bathing suits. This island is considered to be sacred. There is shrine there of the miraculous lady.

It was called Heart of God,
because the island is shaped like a heart.

Lunch time,
habang nagkakagulo sila sa pagkain.

From here, nag-start na kami ulit maglakbay. Medyo malakas ung alon, kaya natulog ako. Pag mulat ko ng mata, dinala kami nung bangkero dun sa isang resort na may bayad, so since tig-tipid na, we decided to just go to Lagen, eto daw ung wall na ni-ascend and ni-rappel sa Amazing Race. But when we got there, there is an entrance fee, so we just took pictures of the place.

After this, we went to Kodugnon Island. There is a cave here. We went inside. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera, so I will be waiting for a copy of the pic from Dads.

Habang nag-snorkel sila,

After this island, we headed back to the staffhouse.

yan sila habang nag-iinuman.
yup, ako ulit ang kumuha kaya ala ako. :D

June 16, 2006 - day 6 - Road Trip to Puerto Princesa
(Roxas, Taytay, and Puerto Princesa)

The next day, road trip na to Puerto Princesa, sinakyan namin ung Urvan ata un na van, hindi ko alam kung pano kami nagkasya dun, PLUS ung mga backpacks na malalaki. Napatunayan kong sobrang seseksi namin. bwahahaha.

Vicariate of Taytay
(Cathedral po yan.)

Ang loob ng Cathedral.

After a few meters away, nakita namin ang Cuta (o Kuta?). Para syang mini-intramuros with matching canyon pa. 15 minutes stop over para magpapicture.

June 17, 2006 - day 7 - Puerto Princesa
(Market, Vietville, and Honda Bay)

Most of those who have already been in the Underground River trip decided to just spend the morning buying pasalubongs. And I am one of them. We went to the market at the Bayan. Bought kasoy (which Dorie have haggled the usual 240 pesos per kilo of Roasted Kasoy down to 200 pesos, galing! nakatipid din ako!), dried fish, and dried pusit.

We went back to the house in order to get the lunch that was prepared for the group in Sabang. Our next stop, Viet Ville. Our agenda is to eat their rice noodles and to eat their french bread.

Lu-li Island. (lulubog lilitaw daw?)
Entrance fee here is only 25 pesos, hence we decided to stay here. :)

Huli sa akto.
lumayo sa grupo.

grabe, ang sweet.

parang mag-boyfriend lang.

Pacute lang dun sa may Diving house (?)

Hindi ako tumalon, nagpacute lang.
Ayoko nang maglubog sa tubig.

Nagsasuffer na ako sa pagang tenga nyan.

Bat Island.
Hindi kami dumaong dito, pinanuod lang namin ung mga madaming bats. as in.

Bats yan.
hindi yan dumi dumi sa screen.
hehehe.

:D hehehe. Naligo kami sa house then, we went to Al Fresco ung resto dun sa may Javlon House. At syempre pa, matigas talaga ang ulo ko, sumakay na ako ulit sa motor ni Apollo. hehehe, this time dalawa na kami ni Melanie, grabe tawa kami ng tawa. hehehe.

Nagkantahan ng unti, uminom sila ng unti. At dahil may mga uuwi na the next day, we ended the night at around 1am.

June 18, 2006 - day 8 - Puerto Princesa
(Airport, NCCC, Viet Ville, Market, Baker's Hill, Sea Plane, and Palayok at Bilao)

Sumunod kami sa Airport, ang natitira na lang sa min are: SIr Thornz, Mommy Mitch, Ava, Aet Sheng, Anjo, Abet and me.

After airport we went to NCCC their mall in Palawan, to buy some tshirts and other more pasalubongs.

We had lunch at Viet Ville. Hindi pa kasi nakakapunta dito sina Ava dahil nasa Sabang sila. So another round of picture-taking and this time I had chicken in garlic sauce. sarap!

Ayan sila tuloy nakataikod hehehe.

Huli na naman kayo hehehe.

Ang boyfriend kong pirata.

wala lang...
wala lang talaga...
hahahha

Last year, maliit lang yan, ngayon matangkad pa sa kin!

si Sir Thornz kumuha nyan... :)

June 19, 2006 - day 9 - Uwian na.
(BACK TO REALITY!)

Yung araw na uuwi kami, medyo relax na kami, walang nagra-rush (wala nga ba?) hehehe.
Pumunta ako sa Capitol hoping to get brochures of the places we've been, kaso nga lang, I was kindda disappointed, kasi mostly ang binigay sa kin is brochures ng resorts.

Anyhow, ayun, sa airport.

my last picture in Palawan land.

Assessment ko sa buong trip?

1. Once again, napatunayan kong HAPPINESS IS A DECISION. Honestly, bago pa magsimula ang trip na to, matindi na ung sakit ng tyan ko, amoebiasis daw sabi ni 24 (thanks alot for the medicine you prescribed!). Then sa barko pa lang iritated na ung right eye ko (hanggang ngayon) yeah, I may have seen most of those places with out my contact lens pero at least nakita ko pa din sila, kahit may mga times na one-eyed ako. hehehe.

2. That when you sow goodness you'll reap goodness too. Si Mama ni Sir Thornz, she have helped a lot of schools and a lot people in her life.

3. If ever time will come that I will be married, I want a relationship that's something like what I observed with Mommy Mitch and Sir Thornz. They are more than husband-and-wife they are friends. napaka-timeless.

7. You meet wonderful people along the way, they can make your life a better place. dapat marunong tayong lilingon, bumalik at magpahalaga sa kanila.

8. Wala na akong pera, pero I took a lot of good pics. Naniniwala ako, balang araw, (in my dreams!) sila ang magbibigay ng pera sa kin. hehehe.

9. Life is really full of surprises! Amanpulo is never on my list of places to go to, mahal kasi alam ko. but surprise surprise I was able to set foot on that Island. :)

10. Thanks to everybody's friendship.
